In response to Missouri being among the top ranked states for incarcerating women, the Department of Corrections is looking for solutions within the community to treat non-violent offenders without having to incarcerate them. Pike and Lincoln County judge, Milan Berry, has urged local churches and non-profit organizations to develop faith-based treatment programs, stating that he would gladly use such proven programs as alternatives to incarceration
With this mandate, we feel that now is the time to move forward on the call to start a recovery program in Lincoln County. This leading has been confirmed by many in the community who are desperate for solutions for their family and friends bound in addiction. It has also been confirmed by Judge Beck, who oversees the Drug Court offenders in the county. Judge Beck is thrilled to have a Christ centered recovery center to contract with as an option for women sentenced to drug court. Just as we are transforming the lives of women within prison walls, we will change the lives of women before they are negatively impacted by a prison sentence and criminal record.
This new center aligns with our mission to strengthen Missouri communities and build healthy families by transforming the lives of women. Expanding our program into the community allows us to help those imprisoned by addiction to find freedom without ending up behind bars
